Dr Paul Loiselle Publisher: Tetra Press Date Published: > Revised & Expanded Edition March 25, 1994 Language: English Format: Hardcover 447 pages | This book does a great job of helping the beginner set up and maintain their first cichlid aquarium and is an excellent resource for learning about cichlid behaviors. The main drawback is with the lack of good index. It is nearly impossible to look-up any specific fish because they are not listed in the back of the book. Nice to have in your Cichlid library but you'll need more books to look up specific fish and their specific requiriements. |

Dr. Herbert R Axelrod Publisher: TFH Publications Date Published First Edition September 1993 Language: English Format: Hardcover 864 Pages | Every Known Cichlid Illustrated in Color The book does a good job of describing the major families of cichlids. Detail is provided about where they come from, what the environment there is like, and general information about the temperment of that family of fish. Not every fish is covered in great details however the book covers a vast amount of known species at the time of when it was published. The book provides a color picture of most fish, depending upon your idea of photography some photos may not be up to typical professional standards or the individual fish is not a real good selection to be photographed. Some fish are only covered by drawings All in all this reference book would make a great gift for any hobbyist interested in Cichlids. |
