Livestock Guarantees

B & D Aquatics deals with many wholesalers and transshippers of aquatic animals, and we do our best to ensure the Quality of Livestock by monitoring their health, and quarantining specimens for their health.

We do offer a Livestock Guarantee of 5 days but there are some stipulations in regards to this guarantee and do refund the customers if the following stipulations are followed:

Due to aquatic species need to be conditioned properly to their new environment including your home aquarium,  some parametres need to be checked before hand in regards to providing a good home for our aquatic friends.

These parametres are:

Ammonia and Nitrate Testing
Ph Testing
Salinity Testing

We suggest that liquid test kits be purchased and our customers test their water conditions before adding any new aquarium inhabitants. Conditioning the fish to their new home is very important in regards to Ph and Salinity (salt water fish). It takes time to properly condition aquatic species to their new home in these aspects. So make sure you know the chemistry of your water. We suggest you knowing your parameters when coming in to purchase your new fish.

B and D Aquatics does checks to honor the livestock guarantee under the following conditions. If the following conditions are not followed no Refund will be granted.

  1. If the customer does not return the dead livestock for observation by a staff member and must have proof of purchase via receipt.
  2. Water sample from the aquarium that the fish was put into has to accompany the return of the dead livestock. This water sample will be tested for parameters involved in making sure that it is within proper aquarium water chemistry for the livestock involved.
  3. Water will be tested for the parameters of Ammonia which tends to be the number one killer of aquatic species. This is generally caused  by poor water conditions from over feeding, not proper water changes, and new tank syndrome. Feel free to look on the internet about this syndrome.
  4. Nitrites and Nitrates will also be tested High levels in Nitrites is dangerous to species of fish and in Nitrates it can affect species of invertibrates (This depends from Species to Species)
  5. PH levels .. Improper conditioning of customer to introducing a new tank mate to an aquarium. Generally the water at B & D Aquatics is at 7.2 PH which is the water parameters of the water of downtown Trail BC. This is tested regularly by staff however without proper tank maintainance or having other water supplies the customer should adapt or condition the livestock accordingly to the PH level of their water supply. Feel free to ask questions of staff member when purchasing your fish!
  6. Keeping fish in Improper PH Level. Although many species are adaptable to  a wide range of Ph levels when properly adjusted and conditioned some species may not have this adaptability. Make sure you know the water chemistry of the species of fish you want as a customer in your tank. Feel free to ask staff questions.
